On August 6th the LOTR movie will be released on DVD here in Norway - a movie that gave Orlando
and Elijah a new friend for life... each other!

Elijah and Orlando had never met before the shooting of the Lord of the Rings started in New Zealand, but it didn't take long until the two and the rest of the guys became great friends. Prior to the shooting of this movie, Orlando was just an anonymous theatre actor in England, while Elijah had started taking the difficult step from child star to serious grown-up actor in Hollywood. In a way, LOTR was the big breakthrough for both actors, and they can now choose between tons of different parts.
When TOPP met the guys right after the shooting of LOTR was done, none of them had any new projects going on. "I'm really anxious to work, so if there's anyone who got a really good movie part, just contact me", Elijah smiled.
But that was back then. Now that the LOTR-success really has taken off, things have changed. Both guys are now among the most wanted actors - both by the movie companies and the fans.
It's not often the guys gets the time or opportunity to meet, but when they do, it certainly isn't any lack of joy! And that's something the guests of the LOTR premiere in London got to experience. When the boys met, they ran straight into each other's arms and gave each other a big reunion hug. (see scans)

What is it that makes Elijah and Orlando click so well? Why have they become such great friends?
May it be because they're really alike? Just have a look here:

* both have birthdays in January
* both have dark, untidy hair
* both are extremely popular among girls
* both have been in commercials. Elijah when he was a little boy, Orlando recently in a Gap commercial

* both missed their father during their childhood. Orlando's father, Harry, died when Orlando was four years old, and he's missed a father figure ever since. Elijah's father, Warren, never had any contact with his son. "I was raised by my mother, and she's compensated more than enough for the loss of my father", Elijah has stated.
* both are incredibly nice and down to earth.
* both seem to have a special love for pretty girls... Elijah have been dating the model Bijou Phillips, and is at the moment dating actress Franka Potente, while Orlando has been engaged to supermodel Jemma Kidd.
* both love dogs. Orlando lives with his dog Maude, while Elijah's family has two dogs named Rascal and Levi.
* both have played opposite Josh Hartnett in a movie - Elijah in The Faculty, Orlando in Black Hawk Down.
And by the way, it was Josh who made Elijah start smoking - Orlando already did this long before he met Josh...

Now that the guys for the most part spend time in two different countries, they stay in touch through
e-mail and the phone. But there's one thing they wish to do in the future, and that is to play in another
movie together. And strangely enough, that's something we in TOPP really wish for as well...
