Our tale begins after the death of the great king Aragorn and his wife the Elven Queen Arwen
Evenstar. The Elf Legolas and his companion Gimli the Dwarf sailed out into the sea for Gimli
wanted to see caves and the caves at helm’s deep and for the fair Legolas wanted to sail the
seven seas till the end of his days but that is not what happened.

After Frodo, Bilbo, Elrond and Lady Galadriel departed Legolas and Gimli set sail and left
behind their fair lands, kingdoms and homes. Legolas and Gimli were eager to sail and live
amongst the other races but, Legolas and even Gimli didn’t expect what happened.

The fair daughter of andriwilos, Airefeaiel was in her watery land looking out into the wilderness
(for Airefeaiel was a sea - elf as Legolas was a wood – elf,) the sea – elves had keen hearing
as the wood – elves had keen seeing and Airefeaiel could hear the beloved sound of the wild
animals and birds. She got up from her resting place and walked to the water. She jumped in
and as soon as she did her legs were turned into a tail and her gown into a garment worn on
her chest, as she emerged from the water she came out with three giant pearls and some shells.
Airefeaiel had heard Legolas singing and knew that she would soon be having visitors so she
got up and quickly dried herself then she light – footedly ran to her land and prepared a feast
(for Airefeaiel had keen hearing and when she heard Legolas’ singing he was about 15 miles
away!) Airefeaiel prepared a beautiful feast (for sea – elves were kind and generous and gave
mighty feats and even gave enemies and prisoners good food to eat.) She brought the pearls
and set them on the stony table near the water “ Where are my guests they should have arrived by now ”

But she shouldn’t have worried because up through the bushes Legolas and Gimli came they
came from up stream and saw the beautiful maiden sitting down before a big feast. Legolas
was the first to get off the boat he came up to Airefeaiel and asked her where he was she
replied to him that they were in Thalasa the land of sea – elves He asked her if she was a sea – elf
and she said yes she could guess he was a stranger and an elf and she could also guess he was a
wood – elf (for wood – elves were clad in green and brown) Then Gimli came after tying the
boat down. Airefeaiel told them the feast was for them and they gladly joined her (for they
were starving).

After Airefeaiel gave them the beautiful shells and pearls she had found and told them they
were a gift. When Airefeaiel went off Gimli looked at Legolas (who was starry – eyed) “ We
are strangers in this land but she welcomes us like family isn’t that a tad strange Legolas?” But
Legolas simply was in his own little world and he didn’t hear Gimli. When Airefeaiel returned
she asked them what their names were Legolas said he was Legolas Son of Thranduil and
Prince Of Northern Mirkwood and then Gimli replied that he was Gimli son Of Gloin when
Airefeaiel heard this she smiled and said “ I knew of a Gloin strong tough fellow he was he
was on his quest with Bilbo ah that was one amazing Hobbit.” When Airefeaiel finished both
Legolas and Gimli were amazed Gimli asked if she knew of the hobbit Frodo Baggins and she
did indeed (For her father Andriwilos’ servant was the guardian of the lake.) Airefeaiel told
them that she was Airefeaiel daughter of Andriwilos and also Princess Of Southern Thalasa
heir to the throne of Thalasa and to be Queen of All Sea – elves and also at their service, she
bowed.

When Legolas and Gimli heard this they were amazed at having royalty at their feast and bowing
to them that they told her the feast was marvelous and that they were at her service. Airefeaiel
was gladly pleased at having such lovely guests that she invited them to her father’s palace for
the next evening. Airefeaiel asked them to wait and she dashed off to her father’s palace there
she gathered her fellow royals including her father and all her friends and the most residents of
Southern Thalasa (which wasn’t much as to many Thalasians were not informed of the news.)
Airefeaiel came back to Legolas and Gimli and soon they were joined by fellow sea – elves
and they were all merrily singing (for elves loved parties and sea – elves mostly did.) When the
elves started dancing Legolas went over to Airefeaiel she asked him to come with her to show
him something and he brought his bow and arrows with him (which were always hanging on his back).
When they got to the water Legolas asked what she wanted to show him at that she jumped in
and as he looked she submerged and he saw her beautiful green sparkling tail, and her beautiful
pearl necklace. She then got out and she turned back to her elven form and then she asked him
why he had brought his bow and arrows. Legolas told her they were his prized possession and
he then showed her why. A small oak tree was in the distance about 5 miles away and then Legolas
got his bow and got out an arrow he pulled the string and sent it hurling straight forward into
the centre of the small oak and splitting it in two. Airefeaiel was impressed and she wanted to
show her talent with a bow she asked Legolas if she could use it he let her (which was pretty
unusual since only Legolas touched his bow and he even refused anyone to touch it when he
went to see Thorin, but he had a strong affection towards Airefeaiel and could not say no to
her) Airefeaiel took an arrow from Legolas’ quiver and she pulled the string right back she let
it go and it went passed the oak into a small birch splitting it and sending it’s branches into the
water. Legolas was impressed and even a bit jealous since Airefeaiel was so good at archery.
He asked if she had ever used one before and even surprised as he was he was even more
surprised when she told him that she hadn’t and that she preferred swords in battles (He was
extremely impressed since in middle Earth few women ever fought in battles as not many do
now.) She was flattered when he told her that she was too beautiful to be fighting in bloody
battles. Airefeaiel went a light shade of pink and told him that it really wasn’t true. But Legolas
insisted and so she gave up.

Airefeaiel and Legolas had really made a close relationship even
on the first day but what happened still isn’t as even ready to happen it happened after a week
or so. Gimli had seen Legolas and Airefeaiel walk off together a few times before but this time
he wanted to see what was actually happening so Gimli went and followed Airefeaiel and
Legolas. Airefeaiel secretly told Legolas that she could hear Gimli close behind and Legolas
turned around and spotted Gimli. He told her that he saw Gimli and so they pretended that
they hadn’t spotted him. (For they had both the same idea) When Gimli had caught up to them
(with them at one stage being 2 miles in front being light – footed elves that they were) Eventually
he did catch up and found them nowhere (they had secretly gone behind him and were hiding
in the bush. They leaped onto Gimli and when he finally knew what happened he was pinned to
the ground. Airefeaiel started laughing and so did Legolas Gimli didn’t find it funny at first but
after a while he joined in the laughter. Airefeaiel and Legolas had by this time fallen in love and
they were not keen of leaving each other for even a short amount of time. Airefeaiel’s father
had news for her so he summoned her and Legolas and Gimli into the throne room. He told
Legolas and Gimli that he needed help and he wanted them to find the great treasure of Lanquas.
The treasure of Lanquas was the prized possession of the ancient goddess known as Nervana
she was the mythical three bodied sea sprite who lived in the sea of Thalasa and brought to it
its marvelous streams, gullies and beautiful wildlife, The treasure was a beautiful hand crafted
crown made out of the metal figinate which was the hardest and most beautiful of all the treasure
also had a marvelous pearl the size of a hobbit’s hand and it shone brightly and its misty inside
was ever so peculiar as if it held some great power that was even more powerful than that of
the defeated dark lord. Airefeaiel’s father gave her a piece of parchment and she read the
ancient writing it was that of her great ancestors the great spirits of Thalasa and the grey lands
of Mintar she read aloud in a language that neither Gimli nor Legolas new of. It was that of the
same kind that the kings and queens of the first age spoke. It was called the Senata unlike
Legolas’ well know Sindarin it was a more complicated speech and was throughout Thalasa
only known to be spoken by the elders or the sovereign of Thalasa. Airefeaiel must have known
this too as when she saw the writing and understood what it said she felt as if she would faint.
The parchment had said that ~ She Airefeaiel daughter of Andriwilos was the rightful heir of
Thalasa and that her time had come to serve as the great queen Airefeaiel the Fair. When
Airefeaiel translated it for Legolas and Gimli they both stood frozen then Andriwilos spoke
“You have come to my shores and I know by my servant that you served in the defeat of the
dark lord Sauron and that I shall ask this task of you”.
Legolas asked “oh fair king would this not be a task for your armies or great warriors?”
Andriwilos answered “Don not worry my dear elf- friend for I will send with you my prized warriors
and my best warrior also”
Gimli butted in “and who shall this man be?” he asked. “can we not see him?”
Andriwilos laughed. “You see my dear dwarf Gimli son of Gloin that that warrior is in this hall right here with you”
Gimli astonished said “So you have embarked this journey on yourself you will join us?”
But to Gimli, Legolas’ and Airefeaiel’s surprise Andriwilos smiled “no young dwarf not I but my
rightful heir actually heiress I should say my daughter Airefeaiel will accompany you”
Airefeaiel ran and hugged her father she had long wanted to see the outside world out of Thalasa but was
always forbidden. But her father said sternly "if you shall go then Legolas and Gimli and my
warriors Lethin and Leganis shall all guard you"
“father!” Airefeaiel protested, “I am a grown woman I can certainly look after myself I have many
great skills and especially with swords you do know that father?”
Andriwilos answered “Of course I do but my daughter the heiress to Thalasa shall have to be safe
or how will she be able to claim the throne after her quest or even have any children of her own?”
Airefeaiel knew her father had a point she bid him farewell and walked gracefully to the stables.
Legolas and Gimli were given a map and the riddles of the great mirky waters to help guide them on
their quest. He also gave Legolas a secret weapon a beautiful chain only able to be worn by an elf
Andriwilos then said to Legolas “I know the feelings you have for my daughter and she the same
for you if you are to marry than use this chain wisely it brings peace and strength to the bearer
but the bearer must be an elf and must be destined to be a king.” Legolas bowed and accepted
the great chain it was made of the fine metal figinate and the metal was crafted in such a way
that the chain shone like the stars and the water of Thalasa.
Legolas walked to the stables Airefeaiel was there getting her beautiful white horse saddled and
ready. Legolas asked her about the quest she told him that she knew where the crown was and
that she could retrieve it she looked at legolas’ neck and saw the chain she almost dropped her
horses reins then she smiled and said “So my father wishes us to marry then it shall be so” and
then Legolas saw her smile and then he moved close to her and kissed her. Airefeaiel had an
undying love for Legolas much like Aragorn and Arwen the great king and queen of Gondor
and the elves.
