It's time for the annual Empire Awards. Place your votes here, the deadline is 5th of February.

2nd of January: ORLANDO AND HIS WOMEN

Here's a scan from the norwegian magazine TOPP. It's from the opening party of a store called De Beers in London. I don't know the names of the girl in pink and the girl in the pic down to the left. However, the one in the upper left is Samantha Morton. So as you can see, he was in the company of a whole lot of ladies that night. Also, don't you just love his cap =p

1st of January: DEED POLL WAS NEVER MADE
After a whole year of news and gossiping about this movie, without anyone ever seeing it or even seeing screencaps of it, people started having doubts about whether this movie was really made, and if so, whether Orlando had a part in it or not. But it has hereby, after a few weeks of heated discussion amongst Orlando fans, been declared that this movie was never made. Andrč Schneider, one of the actors to have a part in it, recently confirmed this on his official mailing list.
Among other things he stated that the project was started on, but had to cancel after only four days (Orlando only participating one of those days). The reason for this were mainly financial issues, and although the plan was to finish it one day, it was put on ice permanently. This means that all interviews and reviews made about this movie, have been
faked.
I think everyone, including Orlando, can agree that he
really needs an official website to confirm/deny such rumors now.

17th of November: ORLANDO TO STAR IN TROY
Orlando Bloom will star in "Troy," the adapation of "The Iliad" being directed by Wolfgang Petersen. Bloom will play the role of Paris, the character who instigates the Trojan War that triggers an epic battle between Achilles (Brad Pitt) and Hector (Eric Bana). The Warner Bros. project will begin filming in London, Malta and Morocco next year for a 2004 release.

Since landing his first major role as Legolas in The Fellowship of the Ring, Bloom's screen ascension has been rapid. He stars in upcoming LOTR: The Two Towers and will star in The Kelly Gang, The Calcium Kid and Pirates of the Caribbean.

I know this is old news, but it's new to this site, so here goes. Orlando won the
Best Male Breakthrough award at the MTV Movie Awards, held in Los Angeles on 2nd of June. Way to go! Unfortunately, Orlando couldn't be there to accept it in person, as he's currently on the Kelly Gang-set in Australia. Here's his acceptance- speech:

"Hey, I'm sorry I can't be there with you in LA, I wish I was. I'm here in Melbourne, Australia, making a movie about a bunch of Irish outlaws, which is quite mad. But if that isn't mad enough, I'm sitting here and I'm receiving THIS, this beautiful MTV award which has been voted for by you guys, and I am so grateful. Thank you so much for voting for me. I'm flattered and uh, thanks. Um, the experience of working on Lord of the Rings was truly life changing, and I have to thank Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, their creative team, everyone involved in making the movie, couldn't be done without them. And thanks to you guys for voting again. I hope you enjoy the second movie as much as the first one. And to all the people who I love in my life, thanks a lot. Lots of love, bye."

25th of April: RUMORS ABOUT NEW FILM ROLE
A rumor has surfaced that Orlando Bloom is considering taking up the bow and arrow yet again to play
another hero from literature -- young "Hawkeye" in the adaptation of "The Deerslayer." The classic American novel by James Fenimore Cooper is the prequel to "Last of the Mohicans." Daniel Day-Lewis played the grown-up Nathaniel "Hawkeye" Bumppo in the 1992 Michael Mann film.

3rd of April: ORLANDO SNEAKS TWO TOWERS
Orlando Bloom, who reprises the role of elvish archer Legolas in the upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, told SCI FI Wire that the biggest challenge was the climactic Battle of Helm's Deep, which takes place entirely in the rain. "When it's overcast and raining, that just heightens all the dramatic tension," Bloom said in an interview. "That was nine weeks of night shoots that pretty much broke most of us. It was physically very demanding. We were filming it on a quarry, so just the uneven ground was a challenge, and it was nights."

25th of March: DISAPPOINTING OSCAR NIGHT FOR LOTR
The 74th Annual Academy Awards found place in Hollywood yesterday, and Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring had 13 nominations, including
Best Picture and Best Director. But the LOTR staff had to walk home nearly empty-handed. LOTR got only four awards - Best Visual Effects, Best Make-Up, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. Best Picture went to A Beautiful Mind, while Best Director went to Ron Howard (ABM). Ian McKellen, favorite in the Best Supporting Actor category, had to move aside for Jim Broadbent, who won the award for his role in Iris.
All in all, a disappointing night for the staff, the actors and the fans of The Lord of the Rings.
! Orlando was not invited to the award show, due to there not being enough seats at the location. Out of the actors, only Elijah Wood, Sean Astin and Ian McKellen were invited.

22nd of March: ORLANDO STARRING IN 'THE KELLY GANG' & 'CALCIUM KID'
After starring as elf archer Legolas in "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," Orlando Bloom has joined a pair of films from Working Title, says Variety.

Bloom will star with Heath Ledger and Mick Jagger in the Gregor Jordan-directed remake of "The Kelly Gang," about a 19th century Oz cowboy bandit who becomes a folk hero. The film, an adaptation of the Robert Drewe book "Our Sunshine," was first made in 1970. Ledger will play gang leader Ned Kelly and Bloom will play his best friend Joe Byme. Filming begins in Australia on April 29.

Bloom will then star in "The Calcium Kid," another folk hero tale about a British milkman with a steel jaw who is plucked to serve as a replacement boxer in a title bout against the U.S. champ. Alek De Rakoff will direct.
