10th of February: RETURN OF THE KING WILL BE LONGER
From Dark Horizons: 'Starjay' has an update on the third film, its reshoots and some FX difficulties: "ROTK is suppose to run in the 3.5-4 hour range, P.J. can use as much time as he needs to finish the story. Most of the actors will be returning to New Zealand for reshoots before the ROTK release. There were two other film crews that were filming other than P.J. and Barry Osbourne/Fran Walsh, and P.J. was allegedly very disappointed with the direction and the acting. All of these scenes will be reshot, and the director has a lot of work to do before the release. I was told that the battle scenes for ROTK would be much more difficult this time, as opposed to Helm's Deep. HD was easy due to the darkness and the rain, it hides a lot of sins. The Battle of Pelennor Fields and the stand at the Black Gate won't be in the dark although it's not completely daylight either".

10th of February: TTT WINS BEST FILM AT EMPIRE AWARDS
The Two Towers was in some way or other nominated in 6 categories, but won only in one. However, it did win the most prestigious one, so I think the LOTR crew can be satisfied!

19th of January: GOLLUM WON AT CCA
The Critics' Choice Awards was held 17th of January, and the award for Best Digital Acting Performance went to Gollum, aka Andy Serkis. Congrats!

11th of January: THE FX SHOT: LEGOLAS MOUNTING THE HORSE
IGN asked Richard Taylor, "Legolas mounting the horse: it drew the biggest cheer from the audience. What was the genesis of that shot?" "I saw some reaction from when we were mixing The Two Towers, and I always thought, 'Well, gee, do we really want to do that?'" said Taylor. "That shot, it's an incidental beat, but Peter didn't want a simple moment. I said, 'Let's just put Legolas on the horse sort of in a conventional manner.' And Peter said, 'No, no. I want something completely different; after all, you know, Legolas, he's an elf; he's got to have some special way to get on the horse,'" said Taylor. "And that's Peter's genius: he knows where to push and what is going to get an audience to cheer. When we first showed it to a public audience. Wow!"

11th of January: THE TWO TOWERS NOMINATIONS
